I. Few Days In September, A Lifetime Remembered.
We remember the prior week...
the Bride's last fitting
waiting and sitting
"What! No sequins and glitter," you poked
as you smiled and joked.
We remember the Thursday nite before...
as you helped us to the door
"its not too late" you dug
as you laughed, smiled, and gave a big hug.
We remember that Friday day...
golf you came to play
never would you think
that with Germans you would drink
and you would have so much fun
and witness a hole in one!
We remember the rehearsal feast
confusion and craziness..
and our families together
at their smiling best.
We remember later that eve
a few too many beers
getting tanked, getting sauced
down the road, The Talkhouse.
We remember the morning of
the sun shining above
waiting while with nervous smiles
the hair the makeup
and the dress with the many cups
the windmill, the beach and
your kisses from arms reach.
We remember it time to go...
how proud you were to start the show
the best man so special
who at first was so bashful
your dance and your speech
was one to teach.
We remember your strength
your dedication
and soul
the lessons that you taught us
will live in us all
We remember no limitations
though physical and speech impaired
its a gift you leave with us
a smile and your laughter frequently shared.
II. One Year Later
It's been a little over a year since...
I have kissed your cheek
hugged your body
or danced with you at my wedding.
As the days passed it has gotton a little easier
yet you are no way forgotten.
although your body is not with me on this earth
you and the memories you have given me are part of my everyday life.
I speak to you daily
sometimes in my thoughts
sometimes in words to your picture on my dresser
but more so through my unborn child.
Jeff and I have created this child in your memory
whether we call our child Chiara Johanna or Curtson Joseph
she or he will be on this earth in your name.
We created this child in hope that she/he live life
as FULL HEARTED AND TRUE as you.
You not only are out inspiration but our will
to give this child only more love, care and a wonderful life.

your spirit lives in us all.

...Alfred, Jennifer, and the boys determination
