The Crisis, Grief , & Healing Banner

The picture on the banner above was taken on a road that leads down into Death Valley. It captures some of the hallmarks of this desert land, no foliage, hot, colorless, dry, and barren. Remind anyone of grief?

Death Valley is a HOT, sparse and rugged spot on the earth and indeed in some ways it does offer a good representation of a deep grief. Very little water, very little food. It is the opposite of the land of plenty just as grief sometimes is the opposite of the joys of our lives. One of the things that struck me about Death Valley was the striking beauty that could be found if one looked around a bit. This seemed to me to be similar to our grief. Sometimes even in the midst of a deep grief there are moments of great and memorable beauty. The pictures below offer a few examples of some of the beautfy of the desolate place known as Death Valley.
